I awoke to a rainy Cambridge morning. That same rain followed the group for a quite a ways on our journey through Northern England and Scotland. To break up the long drive to Edinburgh, we stopped at the Yorkshire village of Richmond. We were given a half hour to find lunch somewhere around town and then meet everyone at the 12th century castle (though it may be better named ruins). The main wall of the cast was all that was really left but it all sat atop a beautiful hill above the town.
From there, we had another few hours of driving before we reached Edinburgh. I can honestly say that I loved that drive. It was beautiful. The golden hills were set against a dark gloomy sky and my ears were set to the new Bon Iver album. Plus, I got a few of the ocean! I think I could go anywhere and feel a little more at home once I hit the sea.
We finally made it to the hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. We were each given our own room with a common living room, kitchen, and two bathrooms to share between 6 girls. That night, all 65 of us went to Jimmy Chung's Chinese buffet. From there, a few of us wanted to walk around town and try to find music. I heard that someone knew of a pub that had good folk music, so I tagged along with them.
